Suns’ Grayson Allen sets a career best in assists.
With Devin Booker out of the lineup for the Phoenix Suns, Grayson Allen was charged with something he isn’t used to doing: involving his teammates.
“He said he’s never passed that much,” teammate Bradley Beal remarked. “That’s just unselfish hoops, man.”
Prior to Thursday night’s game against the Utah Jazz, Suns guard Grayson Allen had never dished out more than eight assists in a game.
Then, on an unremarkable night in February, the six-year NBA veteran recorded 14 assists. His previous career high occurred on January 1, 2023, against the Wizards.
Much of Allen’s stellar performance can be credited to the Suns’ ability to beat the Jazz down the floor in transition, which was a key component of their game plan, according to head coach Frank Vogel.
“Utah’s not great at getting back, so we knew we could exploit that,” Vogel went on to say. “They play a bigger lineup, so we wanted to attack that way, and we did it for four quarters.”
