Boulder, Colorado Robert Livingston as defensive coordinator and Pat Shurmur as offensive coordinator completed Deion Sanders’ coaching staff at Colorado.
Sanders also signed Jason Phillips to assist with the receivers and Phil Loadholt to strengthen an offensive line that was lacking, the school reported on Friday. The Buffaloes also moved Brett Bartolone from wide receiver to tight end and Vincent Dancy from analyst to assistant coach for outside linebackers.
Under Sanders, Colorado just finished a 4–8 season in its first year. The Buffaloes will shortly transfer to the Big 12 from the Pac-12.
It is Livingston’s responsibility to strengthen a defense that allowed 34.8 points per game in 2023. He was a member of the coaching staff for eight seasons.

The majority of Shurmur’s coaching career, which spans five decades, has been in the NFL. He has coached tight ends, offensive coordinators, and head coaches, among other positions. In addition to managing the Cleveland Browns from 2011 to 2012, he was Philadelphia’s interim coach in 2015. From 2018 to 2019, he also served as the New York Giants’ head coach. Furthermore, he has played for the Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, and St. Louis Rams.
