Budda Baker Talks About The Future Of The Cardinals
ARIZONA — Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker found himself in trade speculation last offseason after making his request to move on from the organization public.
The situation was later resolved after general manager Monti Ossenfort re-worked Baker’s deal to ensure he was given a contract more suitable to his liking prior to the start of training camp.
The rumors of Baker wanting to play with a contending team never quite went away after the ink dried – and with just one tweet – Baker scared nearly everyone in the Red Sea this morning:
Later when speaking with reporters, he clarified himself:
“It’s about the season, it’s the last game of the season. Of course we’re not going to the playoffs so it’s always gonna be something when you always want to win out at the last game of the season – especially at home, it’s been awhile,” Baker said.
“Just being able to go play in front of our fans and try to get a W – that’s gonna be the main focus, so everything will take care of itself.”
The tweet gained plenty of responses from Cardinals fans asking him to stay – which he appreciated.
“Personally I haven’t looked at the comments but it’s definitely special – I’m glad fans want to keep me here – at the end of the day, you always understand that it’s a business. Me personally, I’m just trying to do my job at a high level each and every week,” said Baker, who was then asked if he wants to be part of the culture change moving forward:
