“Mike McCarthy Has to Leave the Cowboys,” said Jerry Jones today.

Jerry Jones doesn’t stop rumors about Mike McCarthy getting a job after the Cowboys win the NFC East.

Jerry Jones doesn’t stop rumors about Mike McCarthy getting a job after the Cowboys win. On Sunday, Jerry Jones, the owner of the NFC East Cowboys, did Mike McCarthy no favors.

In response to rumors that McCarthy must lead the Cowboys past the halfway point of the postseason in order to demonstrate his ability to lead them all the way to the postseason, Jones

didn’t exactly put that to bed.

“I just think his record speaks for itself,” Jones said, according to The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “I think of what he’s done and that we’ve put ourselves in this position over these last three years, I think that does speak for itself. We’ve got a lot of football left and no small part thanks to Mike.

… We’ll see how each game goes.”

The Cowboys have come up short in each of the previous three seasons, missing the playoffs entirely in 2020.

In 2021, they were knocked out in the wild-card game by the 49ers despite the Cowboys winning the NFC East.
