Christian Wood’s season with the Dallas Mavericks didn’t work out for a number of reasons, despite their high expectations. Although Wood had some genuine moments when playing next to Luka Doncic, his defensive flaws prevented him from cementing a permanent place in head coach Jason Kidd’s starting lineup.
For the same reason, Wood isn’t a starter in Los Angeles right now despite being a member of the veteran minimum deal, but unlike in Dallas, he seems more resigned to his backup status in Hollywood. Wednesday night will mark Wood’s first game against the Mavs since he left in the offseason, and he is excited to play his old squad.
