EX-NFL star Chris Smith has died at the age of 31 – just hours after playing for the Seattle Sea Dragons.
The ex-Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns defensive end died “suddenly” following an XFL league game.
NFL sa)legend Smith’s passing was confirmed by his old high school West Rowan, based in North Carolina – but his cause of death has not been confirmed.
Fans have flooded Twitter sharing kind words about Smith with one writing: “This guy came to my Middle School when I was in 6th grade. He talked about overcoming adversity. I will never forget almost all of us crying during his powerful speech.”
While another fan wrote: “Wow, rest in peace. So young [crying emoji].
At this time there has been nothing released on Smith’s cause of death, but the XFL paid tribute to him during the Orlando Guardians and the St. Louis Battlehawks on April 22.
