ESPN REPORT: Austin Ekeler Has Clear Message After Signing With Commanders

    adminBy adminMarch 15, 2024No Comments2 Mins Read

A compilation of online articles, podcasts, and tweets to stay updated with the Commanders, the NFC East, and the NFL overall

Washington was selected in the third round (No. 78) and the fifth round (No. 152) and sent a fourth-round pick (No. 102) and a sixth-round pick (No. 179) to Seattle.

Six of the top 100 selections, Nos. 2, 36, 40, 67, 78, and 100, are acquired by Washington as a result of the move, which will aid the team in its ongoing roster revamp and, should it choose, in its attempt to make another draft trade.

A comprehensive roster renovation was initiated with the entrance of General Manager Adam Peters and a new coaching staff under Dan Quinn. The NFL’s open negotiation period started on Monday. Since then, in an effort to fill needing positions and provide seasoned leadership, the Commanders have agreed to terms with 14 new free agents and re-signed three of their own; the majority of the free agency deals were for one or two years.

During Sam Howell’s two seasons with the Washington Commanders, one thing remained constant: nobody could agree on how valuable he was, at least not until general manager Adam Peters took over.

NFL quarterbacks are kings. For this reason, we’re concentrating on the player the Commanders traded away, even if we added enough new players during the first week of free agency to cast the next “Ocean’s Thirteen” movie. Howell, the team’s starter in 2023, was traded by Washington to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for third and fifth round picks in the April draft.

For a player the league let slip to the fifth round, 144th overall, in the 2022 draft, that’s a respectable net and practical gain. According to the well-known Jimmy Johnson deal chart and other sources, Washington was given what would have been a late third- or early fourth-round selection in return. The rebuilding Commanders now have six picks in the top 100 and nine overall with the third-round selection, No. 78. Peters can make some progress in repairing the long-term roster with that haul.
