The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) tournament is down to the semifinal round today in Washington, D.C. Four teams are still in the hunt for the tournament title, including top-seeded No. 4 North Carolina and fourth-seeded Pitt.
The Tar Heels and Panthers meet for the second time this season with a spot in the ACC tournament championship game on the line.
North Carolina won 92-67 over Florida State yesterday for its eighth victory in a row. The Tar Heels outrebounded the Seminoles 48-22 in a dominant day on the glass. RJ Davis led the way with 18 points and Cormac Ryan and Armando Bacot had 14 points each, the latter adding 10 rebounds as well. North Carolina jumped out to a 46-30 lead by halftime and cruised to victory as Florida State struggled from the field.
Pitt earned its fourth consecutive win with an 81-69 victory over Wake Forest yesterday. ACC Sixth Man of the Year Ishmael Leggett scored a game-high 30 points off the bench to power the win. He finished the game 11-of-18 from the field compared to 12-of-30 shooting by the starters. Like North Carolina, Pitt held a double-digit lead at halftime and held on to advance in the conference tournament.
