Dallas Cowboys’ Najee Harris Trade Rumor with Pittsburgh Steelers: Do Critics Not Understand?
FRISCO – Somebody still doesn’t get it.
The Dallas Cowboys offseason strategy has been about stripping down, not about building up. It’s been about “keeping their powder dry” and not making long-term commitments.
Some call it “confusing.” But it’s not. Rather, it’s “frustrating.”
Nevertheless, casual Cowboys watchers continue to pitch ideas that would in theory bolster owner Jerry Jones’ roster. To wit, the observation of a glaring position of need at running back, and yet another proposed solution that isn’t a solution at all.
Bleacher Report’s idea? Dallas should trade for Najee Harris.
We see two problems here. … and we’re befuddled as how the entire world, by now, doesn’t see them as well ..
One, B/R praises Harris as a player, citing his “undeniable talent and pedigree.” But in reality? He’s only the second-best back on the Steelers roster (behind Jaylen Warren), and he’s a plodding runner lacking explosiveness.
And two, the former first-round pick is entering the final year of his contract and due to make $4.2 million – the sort of salary that caused Dallas to not even bother with Zack Moss, let alone the likes of Derrick Henry, Joe Mixon, Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, Aaron Jones and home-grown Tony Pollard.
The renewed speculation about a possible reunion with Ezekiel Elliott is in part due to his perceived affordability. … certainly as much as it is due to any idea that he’s substantially better than present penciled-in starter Rico Dowdle (with the Cowboys obviously planning to add a potential first-team back in this NFL Draft).
