Cornerback Anthony Averett has played in 51 regular-season recreations and three playoff challenges in five NFL seasons. But since the previous Alabama cautious back didn’t play in any final season, he was among the 21 tryout players at the Pittsburgh Steelers’ rookie minicamp this end of the week.
Whereas the rest of those tryout players are going domestic, Averett is remaining with the Steelers. The NFL group declared on Sunday that it had marked Averett to a one-year contract. Other terms of the bargain were not uncovered.

After an injury-affected 2022 season, Averett showed up on the programs of the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions in 2023 without playing. He had been a free operator since the Lions discharged him from their hone squad on Nov. 14.
Averett entered the NFL as a fourth-round determination of the Baltimore Ravens within the 2018 draft.
Averett went through his to begin with three seasons to a great extent as a save with the Ravens, with his cautious snaps expanding from 71 in 2018 to 220 in 2019 and 354 in 2020.
