Following Dwayne Haskins’s passing, the Pittsburgh Steelers, NFL, and region pay tribute to him.
Pittsburgh, PA (KDKA) — The Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins passed away in South Florida this morning, and condolences are still coming in.
He was killed when he got out of his car and began to walk down I-595 and was hit by a dump truck.
Haskins’ Pittsburgh Steelers teammates are shocked to learn of his unexpected death and are responding to the information.
“All you cared about was making sure that everyone around you was okay and I can’t thank you enough for that,” tweeted Chase Claypool, describing himself as “selfless” and mentioning that he was with Haskins in South Florida. I aspire to be like you.
I was with you in your last moments, and I can’t get over how unselfish you were in those moments. I can’t express how much I appreciate that all you wanted was to make sure everyone around you was alright. I aspire to be like you.
It’s acceptable to not feel okay, even when we are treated like less than human beings and put on this unwelcome pedestal. Let me serve as an example. I adore you, three.” On Saturday night, Claypool posted something on Twitter.
He was described by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger as “a young man that didn’t seem to ever have a bad day” and as someone who “enjoyed his passion and love for the game.”
