Garraway acknowledged that she was indeed on her phone, explaining that she was dealing with a “home crisis” involving her children. She mentioned that her kids were asking about the location of a particular item at home, and she had to tell them she was on air and couldn’t assist at that moment.
This incident happened shortly after Garraway returned to the show, following a break she took due to her father falling ill. Her father had collapsed after suffering a suspected stroke and heart attack, which occurred just six months after the passing of her husband, Derek Draper. Garraway rushed to be with her father during that time.
