“It’s just good to be competitive and fun to win races. So, um, yeah, it was, it was awesome to go to Australia, you know, a country and, and place that I just haven’t had much success.
“And it’s similar kind of, this, Volusia’s like my Australia. I just always come here and don’t, uh, finish very well. So it was good to finally come here and have speed, speed all night long and your race,” he reflected.
Kyle Larson has faced repeated challenges at the Daytona 500. While he has celebrated numerous achievements elsewhere, including leading six wins and covering 1,700 laps led in the 2024 NASCAR season alone, Daytona has been a tough nut to crack for him.
Whilst heat number one had been hit with multiple cautions, heat number two was caution-free, with Chris Buescher dominating his rivals.
Denny Hamlin was the man to come out on top in heat number three, beating the likes of Joey Logano and William Byron, whilst heat number four saw Tyler Reddick finish out front.
Despite the above, however, a number of drivers will be unhappy with their failure to qualify for Sunday’s race, including former Cup Series champion Larson.
The Hendrick Motorsports star could only finish a disappointing 8th place in his qualifying heat, failing to make it to Sunday’s race.
