In a surprising development, Matt Rhule, head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team, has submitted his resignation, effective immediately. Rhule, who took the helm at Nebraska in 2023, cited personal reasons for his departure.
During his tenure, Rhule led the Cornhuskers to their first bowl appearance in eight years, culminating in a victory at the Pinstripe Bowl in 2024. This achievement marked a significant turnaround for the program, which had struggled in previous seasons.
Prior to joining Nebraska, Rhule had a notable coaching career, including head coaching positions at Temple University and Baylor University, where he was recognized as the Big 12 Coach of the Year in 2019. He also served as the head coach for the NFL’s Carolina Panthers from 2020 to 2022.
