Any Duke “fan” who is talking about outcoached, out played and all that nonsense ain’t a fan. Houston was allowed to grab, bite, punch and push their way to victory. It’s happens. The picture isn’t a foul on the Houston player for grabbing Coop here, it’s a foul on Coop……explain how you can Coach this? I didn’t think so. On to next year!! Boozer twins in bound Read More…

. In the aftermath of a tough loss, some Duke fans have taken to social media and sports talk to express frustration, claiming that the team was “outcoached” and “outplayed” by Houston in their recent matchup. But a true fan doesn’t just throw around accusations of poor coaching or execution when the game doesn’t go their way. If you’re truly a fan of Duke basketball, you understand that these types of games happen, and you should have the grace to accept the outcome with respect.

The truth is, Houston’s aggressive style of play led them to victory, and while it may have been frustrating to watch, it wasn’t some grand conspiracy or poor strategy that led to Duke’s defeat. The Cougars were allowed to be physical, at times bordering on excessive, as they pushed, grabbed, and even punched their way to a win. Houston’s defense was suffocating, and they played with an intensity that Duke struggled to match. It’s a part of the game, and the officials didn’t seem to intervene enough to balance out that physicality.

Take, for instance, the controversial moment involving Duke’s Cooper. There’s been a lot of talk about whether a particular play should have been a foul, with some arguing that Houston’s defender should have been penalized for grabbing Cooper. But in reality, the play wasn’t a foul on the Houston player; the foul was actually called on Cooper. In this situation, the referees made their call, and it’s important to note that in such physical games, these calls can be contentious. The reality is, sometimes the game is just called differently depending on the circumstances. Coaches can’t control how every call is made, nor can they control how an opposing team plays aggressively.

So, for any Duke “fan” who claims the team was simply “outcoached” or “outplayed,” it’s important to take a step back and realize that these things happen. Coaching and execution are not always about perfection — sometimes it’s about adapting to the physicality of the game and responding to adversity. Coach Jon Scheyer and the Blue Devils did just that, but Houston was simply better on that night.

Instead of whining about what went wrong, it’s time to look forward to the future. The Boozer twins, who are primed to be key contributors next year, are one of the bright spots on the horizon for Duke basketball. Their arrival gives fans something to look forward to, and with their talent, the Blue Devils will have a strong foundation moving forward.

In the end, what really matters is that Duke keeps its head up, learns from these tough moments, and comes back stronger next season. Fans should remember: being a true fan means sticking with the team through wins and losses. On to next year!
