“It Was Hard” – Juan Soto Makes Honest Admission, Explains His Strange Mid-Inning Move

New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto left fans and commentators scratching their heads this week after making an unexpected move during the middle of an inning—and now, he’s finally shedding light on what happened.

During a tense moment in the Mets’ latest matchup, Soto was seen jogging off the field mid-inning, glancing toward the dugout with what appeared to be frustration or concern. For a moment, confusion reigned. Was he injured? Was it a miscommunication? Was something going on behind the scenes?

After the game, Soto addressed the moment with characteristic honesty.

“It was hard,” Soto said. “I didn’t want to leave the field, but something didn’t feel right. I knew I had to take a second, even if it looked weird in the moment.”

The star outfielder explained that he was battling a sudden bout of dizziness, possibly from dehydration or heat-related fatigue, and made the split-second decision to step away rather than risk making a mistake or injuring himself further. It was a mature call, albeit one that looked strange in real time.

“I’ve never done that before,” he admitted. “But I’ve learned to listen to my body. I knew if I stayed out there, I might hurt the team or myself.”

The Mets coaching staff backed his decision, praising him for speaking up rather than trying to play through something that could have escalated. Manager Carlos Mendoza added, “Juan’s a competitor. If he leaves the field, there’s a reason. We respect that.”

Soto’s quick return later in the game reassured fans, and his openness afterward reminded everyone why he’s considered one of the most grounded stars in the league.

In a sport where toughness is often prized over transparency, Juan Soto just gave a masterclass in both.
