Netflix to Release In-Depth Documentary Chronicling Florida Gators Basketball Team’s Journey, Spotlighting Coach Todd Golden’s Vision

    1. April 18, 2025 — Netflix has announced an upcoming sports documentary that will dive deep into the highs, lows, and behind-the-scenes moments of the Florida Gators men’s basketball team, with a special focus on head coach Todd Golden’s leadership and vision. Titled “Orange and Blue: The Gator Grind,” the series promises to provide fans with unprecedented access to the storied program as it navigates a new era.

The documentary, set to premiere this summer, will chronicle the Gators’ most recent seasons, including locker room footage, intense training sessions, emotional team meetings, and candid interviews with players, staff, alumni, and Coach Golden himself. The series will also reflect on the legacy of the Florida Gators, highlighting their past NCAA championships and the culture of excellence that defines the program.

At the heart of the documentary is Todd Golden, the young, analytics-driven coach who took the reins in 2022. Known for his modern approach to coaching and emphasis on data, Golden is portrayed as a transformative figure within college basketball. The series aims to capture his efforts to rebuild and redefine the program’s identity, his strategic approach to recruiting, and his commitment to developing players both on and off the court.

“This project is about more than just wins and losses,” said Golden in a teaser released by Netflix. “It’s about the process, the people, and the passion that fuels Gator basketball every single day.”

According to Netflix, the documentary will explore how Golden has embraced the evolving nature of the college game—balancing NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) dynamics, the transfer portal, and the pressure to return to national prominence—all while fostering a team-first mentality.

Produced by the team behind Last Chance U and Untold, the docuseries is expected to span six episodes, each focusing on pivotal themes like leadership, resilience, legacy, and the future of college hoops.

Fans, alumni, and basketball lovers are already buzzing with anticipation. With fly-on-the-wall access and a narrative centered around growth and grit, “Orange and Blue: The Gator Grind” is shaping up to be a must-watch for anyone interested in the soul of college basketball and the rise of one of its most promising young coaches.
