Breaking News: Per Stu Padasso, Tommy DeVito Has Demanded a Trade After Feeling Disrespected by the Giants’ Decision to Draft Quarterback Jaxson Dart, Signaling Major Tension and Potential Quarterback Controversy Brewing in New York Ahead of the 2025 Season

The New York Giants’ quarterback room has suddenly become the center of controversy following a report by Stu Padasso indicating that Tommy DeVito has officially demanded a trade. The reason? DeVito reportedly feels “disrespected” and blindsided by the Giants’ decision to select quarterback Jaxson Dart in the 2025 NFL Draft — a move that now threatens to throw the team’s offseason plans into turmoil.

Tommy DeVito, who became something of a fan favorite in 2023 with his gritty play and unexpected rise from undrafted free agent to starter, is now on the outs with the organization that once praised his perseverance. After backing up and eventually starting games during a turbulent 2023 season, DeVito was widely expected to compete for the QB2 job again — if not push for a starting role depending on Daniel Jones’ health and performance.

But the selection of Jaxson Dart, a high-profile and highly productive quarterback out of Ole Miss, appears to have sent a clear message from the front office: the team is looking toward the future — and DeVito may not be part of it.

According to Padasso’s sources, DeVito’s camp was not given advance warning about the Giants’ interest in drafting a quarterback. The lack of communication, coupled with the franchise using a valuable pick on a player at his position, was perceived by DeVito as a major slight. The report also suggests that DeVito sees the move as a lack of faith in his potential, despite his willingness to step up during difficult circumstances in the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

The Giants, meanwhile, have yet to make an official statement regarding DeVito’s reported trade request, but the front office will soon need to address the growing tension. With Daniel Jones still under contract and now Jaxson Dart entering the mix, New York is facing a possible three-way quarterback competition — or a messy breakup with a player who once energized a struggling roster.

Head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen have often spoken about fostering a competitive environment, but situations like this can quickly become distractions if not handled with clarity and care. If DeVito does indeed want out, the Giants will need to evaluate the trade market and determine whether there is genuine interest from quarterback-needy teams.

From a football perspective, DeVito is still developing, but he’s shown enough flashes of poise, mobility, and confidence under pressure to warrant interest from other franchises. At just 26 years old, he has upside as a reliable backup and potentially more in the right system.

For now, though, all eyes are on the Giants. The franchise must decide whether to mend fences with DeVito or move on entirely and fully invest in the development of Jaxson Dart. Either way, the quarterback drama in East Rutherford is just heating up, and with training camp on the horizon, a resolution will need to come sooner rather than later.

The New York Giants’ 2025 season may have just taken a dramatic turn — and it starts under center.
