In a groundbreaking and emotional moment for Virginia Tech, former NFL star and Hokies legend DeAngelo Hall has donated his entire $16.7 million fortune to his alma mater, marking one of the most significant gifts in the university’s athletic history. The generous donation will fund a major renovation project of Lane Stadium, aimed at revitalizing the home of Hokies football for generations to come.
Hall, a standout defensive back for Virginia Tech from 2001 to 2003 before launching a 14-season career in the NFL, announced the donation during a press conference on campus Tuesday afternoon. A three-time Pro Bowler in the NFL and a member of the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame, Hall has remained actively involved with the university since retiring from professional football. He often returns for games, mentoring current players and speaking with students.
