BREAKING NEWS:Niko Kovac blames Jobe Bellingham for his slackness and won’t be playing today’s match

Bayern Munich got off to a rousing start during its 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the latest edition of Der Klassiker, but it was a nervy ending for the Bavarians.

The home side appeared to wear down and wilt under pressure from Borussia Dortmund as the game went on, but it was a gutty effort to even preserve the win under what many would consider to be a shaky second half. Head coach Vincent Kompany will have to find a way to deal with the weariness of his boys, but for now, let’s talk about how it all played out.

This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:Bayern Munich’s 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Saturday was ultimately won by a bizarre play in which Michael Olise slid into a goal line clearance attempt by Jobe Bellingham, which Olise deflected back into the net.

It was a bizarre player where Olise effort and hustle overmatched Bellingham’s nonchalance.

BVB boss Niko Kovač did not fault Bellingham for the goal, despite the player not acting with a ton of urgency. The head coach said that Bellingham initially saved a goal, but was victimized by a good play from Olise.

“I can’t find any fault with Jobe. He was standing where he needed to be. The ball was played in so sharply. It was an artistic feat in its own right that he didn’t score an own-goal. When a ball is played in so sharply, his first task is to hold his center of gravity,” Kovač said (as captured by Sport Bible). “He had his head down and Olise took advantage of this split second and slid in. That’s not a simple [situation]. There’s no fault. I think that everything is fine with that situation.”

Bellingham did, in fact, make a solid play initially. However, the youngster also seemed unaware that Olise was charging in hard to make a play and that goal would end up being the difference in the match.
