Ashleigh Plumptre, a defender for the Super Falcons of Nigeria, is the fourth player from Nigeria to score a hat-trick in Saudi Arabia.
Similar to how Rashidi Yekini, Ahmed Musa, and Odion Ighalo of Nigeria won the match ball when they were in the league, Ashleigh Plumptre scored three goals for Al Ittihad last weekend.
Despite playing as a defender on her league debut, Plumptre scored three goals to assist Al Ittihad Women defeat Eastern Flames 3-0.
Remember that Plumptre recently signed a free transfer to join Al Ittihad, a Saudi Arabian club, from the English women’s squad, Leicester City.
She took some time to adjust to her new surroundings after the relocation, and judging by her performance versus Eastern Flames, it appears she is at ease.
Plumptre made her debut during the game, which was Al Ittihad’s first Saudi Arabian Women’s League match of the 2023–2024 season.
In the first half, the Nigerian international gave Al Ittihad the lead with a well-timed shot.
She then shown outstanding awareness to grab a free kick and score a beautiful volley to make it 2-0 in the second half.
Plumptre scored Al Ittihad’s third goal in the sixty-sixth minute. She demonstrated her killing instinct by taking a feed from a teammate in the box and hitting the goal with accuracy.
