Arsenal and the Premier League Promise To Remember Israel vs. Hamas Victims

    adminBy adminOctober 17, 2023No Comments2 Mins Read

The football teams of the English Premier League and Arsenal have responded to the terrorist attack on Israel by Hamas by pledging to remember the victims.

When Hamas attacked Israel on Saturday, it caught them off guard. They slaughtered hundreds of people and abducted about 150 more.

The Israeli government launched rockets into Gaza, the terrorist organization’s base, on Sunday and declared war on Hamas. It is stated that civilians were killed in the aforementioned attack.

As a result, even if the majority of Western nations have backed Israel, many of them oppose the airstrikes on Gaza.

However, earlier this week, Israel received a letter of support from UEFA, the entity that oversees European football.

Regarding the Premier League, the league board declared that games in the league from Saturday, October 21 to Monday, October 23 will honor the victims of the violence.

“The Premier League strongly condemns the horrific and brutal acts of violence against innocent civilians and is shocked and saddened by the escalating crisis in Israel and Gaza,” the league said in a statement.

“We wish for peace and send our deepest condolences to the affected towns, families, and victims.

“Premier League players, managers, and match officials will wear black armbands and observe a moment of silence at the fixtures taking place from Saturday, October 21 to Monday, October 23, as a show of respect for everyone affected.

To help individuals in immediate need, the League will also make a donation to the British Red Cross.

The Arsenal football club also expressed their condolences for the victims of the violence and declared that their games against Chelsea on October 21 and Aston Villa on October 15 will be used as a way to remember them.

“We convey our profound condolences to everyone affected by the incidents in Israel on Saturday and the human tragedy that has been taking place over the last week, taking innocent lives in both Israel and Gaza,” the club stated in their post. We stand in solidarity with all of our backers and the communities impacted by this conflict around the globe.

“As a club, we will pay our respects and honor all those who have lost their lives at our upcoming women’s and men’s matches against Aston Villa and Chelsea.”
