SAD NEWS : Paul Heckingbottom was dubbed the ‘handy man’ amid Sheffield United’s ownership…..

    adminBy adminNovember 1, 2023No Comments2 Mins Read

The stats make grim reading for Paul Heckingbottom and Sheffield United.
    Nine defeats in 10 matches.
    Twenty nine goals conceded.
    Just seven scored.
The Blades are already five points shy of safety and have made the worst ever start in Premier League history.
The pressure is on Heckingbottom, who orchestrated their promotion to the top flight last season.
Former boss Chris Wilder is said to have been considered as a potential replacement for Heckingbottom.
Football finance expert Kieran Maguire believes Heckingbottom will be a ‘handy fall guy’ to cover up ownership problems at Bramall Lane if he loses his job.
“They will work out the risk and reward matrix at Sheffield United,” Maguire told Football Insider.
Heckingbottom has done a great job getting the club and team into the Premier League.
There are ongoing issues regarding the future of the asset, which doesn’t help as it creates additional uncertainty.
“So Heckingbottom would be a very easy fall guy and his dismissal would act as a distraction.
But as we have seen at other clubs, changing managers does not always change results.
You only have to look at Birmingham City to realize that a change in manager does not necessarily mean improved results.
So I think it would be a shame.
» United take on Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, still looking for their first win of the season.
It is the start of a crucial run of matches for the Blades in their battle to avoid the drop.
After hosting Wolves, United go to Brighton and Hove Albion for their final fixture before the third international break.
They then face relegation rivals Bournemouth and Burnley.
