just Now : 1 player for Thanksgiving, while the Packers aren’t so lucky

The Detroit Lions announced on Wednesday that former Pro Bowl guard Jonah Jackson has been ruled out for the Thanksgiving game against Green Bay. Jackson has missed four of the last five games, first because of an ankle injury and more recently a wrist injury.

That forced Sorsdal, a fifth-round pick out of William & Mary, to make an emergency start in the win against Chicago over the weekend. There were some struggles early, but the kid came on strong and allowed just four pressures and no sacks on 40 pass blocks.

“Yeah, look, some good and then some that wasn’t as good as you would like,” head coach Dan Campbell said. “But that was his first time to start over there at left guard, and I say this again, it’s not too big for him. I thought he fought in there. I know this — at the end of that game, he played well, as really all those guys on offense did. I mean, that was some of our best football we’ve played all year in the last four minutes of the game. They just executed at a high level, and (Sorsdal) really did, he stepped up and that’s a lot of pressure for a rookie to go in there first time at left guard and game’s on the line and thought he played pretty good. So, look, it’s something to build off of on that side. We believe he’ll get better with more reps. We believe he’ll continue to grow. So, it’s good.”

The Lions also elevated defensive lineman Quinton Bohanna and offensive lineman Michael Schofield from the practice squad. But as far as the injury report goes, that’s it for them.

The Packers aren’t so lucky, ruling out running back Aaron Jones (knee) and safety Darnell Savage (calf) while also moving tight end Luke Musgrave and running back Emanuel Wilson to injured reserve. Tight end Josiah Deguara (hip) is doubtful, while cornerback Jaire Alexander (shoulder), linebacker De’Vondre Campbell (neck), running back AJ Dillon (groin), safety Rudy Ford (biceps) and receiver Dontayvion Wicks (concussion/knee) are questionable.

To compensate for injuries, they signed receiver Bo Melton and running back James Robinson off their practice squad, plus elevated fullback Henry Pearson and safety Benny Sapp III from the practice squad.
