just now : Luton offre £120,000 for a brazzilian young Star_good news

While the Premier League has been on hiatus for the past two weeks, with international football taking center stage, the focus has been on great news.

While the biggest story, as we covered – questions-as-answers – was the 10-point deduction handed out to Everton, the presence of the Hatters once again grabbed the headlines. season opener, Brighton and Hove Albion (a).

The apparently homophobic chanting was enough to shock the authorities, although I was hard pressed to find anyone who can remember exactly what was being chanted! However, our game bosses saw fit to impose a £120,000 fine, no doubt with words of warning to the Hatters hierarchy. Unfortunately, I’m afraid we can expect more penalties as the chants heard at the Liverpool (h) game will get a lot of media coverage in the near future.

On a sliding scale I dread to think how big the fine could be, possibly over £200,000. But why does it always seem like Luton Town are being punished? Are we being unfairly detained?

The reason I ask is because last night I was chatting to some guys in the local pub who follow Chelsea home and away. They reiterated that other clubs are, as they described it, much worse than us when it comes to offensive chants.

Indeed, Chelsea trips north regularly fill the airwaves, despite warnings from the authorities against giving up. . Also, Spurs regularly sing a song that contains a word that if uttered would get them banned from every part of the country, is that a double standard?

Now I readily accept that times have changed, society is changing so quickly that it is difficult to keep up, in some cases it is difficult to unintentionally offend some minority or another. So there’s always a risk that someone or a few people will think it’s cool to sing something profane and entice others to join in, especially when a big group gathers and they like those who run our club. , I urge people to think before they act in a way that is likely to have serious consequences for our great club. But with society changing every day, I can’t help but feel and really notice, especially in the Premier League, that football is getting further and further away from the working class, something that has slowly crept up on us but has caught on. . up quickly as our remarkable rise up the league ladder over the past decade has unfolded.
