March is a hectic month on the recruiting trail since the college football recruiting dead period is over, spring practices have begun, and top prospects are competing in the 7-on-7 circuit. This was especially clear over the past weekend as a number of top prospects made significant progress in their decision-making processes by performing unofficial visits, planning more travels for the upcoming months, and condensing their lists of top universities.
Tae Harris, a four-star safety, is still progressing for Clemson, and the team was predicted by 247Sports to land the defensive back. Meanwhile, four-star wide receiver Derick Smith committed to Alabama in the 2025 class, becoming the first early commit under new head coach Kalen DeBoer.
Numerous other well-known programs had successful March debuts. On Monday’s episode of The College Football Recruiting Show, recruiting analysts Blair Angulo, Mike Roach, and Allen Trieu from 247Sports provided an in-depth analysis of the happenings at those schools.

With the acquisition of four-star wide receiver Derick Smith from the nearby Southside of Selma, Alabama, Kalen DeBoer’s debut season at Alabama gained even more momentum.
Angulo: “Among the top athletes in the United States.” a 2025 wide receiver ranked in the top ten. We are aware that the multi-sport profile of Derick—who also plays basketball and baseball—is highly coveted by our scouting staff. Last season, he averaged more than 32 yards per reception and 16 yards per rush. A truly incredible production, which he will take to Tuscaloosa.
After accepting an offer from Clemson in January, Tae Harris quickly decided to pull out of his commitment to Georgia. Everything seems to be pointing toward the Tigers, but he has a packed schedule of games in the upcoming months.
Angulo: “We’re not undervaluing Clemson’s talent, but Georgia offers a slightly more congested route to early snaps. I believe Harris realizes he has the potential to be a day-one impact safety. His stock has been rising since making his Top247 debut last week.
Early in the 2025 cycle, LSU has more five-star commits (two) than any other program, making it the nation’s top-ranked class. DJ Pickett would simply add even more weight to that package.
