BREAKING News; Jayden Jackson, a true freshman defensive tackle for the Oklahoma Sooners, has been named a Freshman 2024.All-American by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA)….

Jayden Jackson, a true freshman defensive tackle for the Oklahoma Sooners, has been named a Freshman All-American by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA). This honor distinguishes Jackson as only the second Sooners defensive lineman to receive FWAA Freshman All-America recognition since the organization began its selections in 2001, following Tommie Harris in that inaugural year.

Hailing from Indianapolis, Jackson made a significant impact during the 2024 season. He participated in all 13 games, starting 10 at defensive tackle, and accumulated 30 tackles, including 3.0 for loss and 2.0 sacks, along with a pass breakup. Jackson’s consistent performance was evident as he recorded at least one tackle in 12 contests, achieving a career-high five stops against Texas on October 12. He also registered notable performances with four tackles each against South Carolina on October 19 and Alabama on November 23.

Jackson’s journey to collegiate success is rooted in his high school career at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. During his tenure at IMG, he was recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year, showcasing his prowess on the defensive line. His high school performance garnered attention from major college programs, leading to his recruitment by Oklahoma.

Upon joining the Sooners, Jackson made an immediate impact. Starting in the season opener against Temple on August 30, he became only the fourth true freshman in Oklahoma history to start on the defensive line in a season opener, and the first since Tommie Harris in 2001. His early contributions set the tone for a remarkable freshman campaign.

Throughout the season, Jackson’s defensive efforts were instrumental in Oklahoma’s overall performance. The Sooners’ defense allowed just 318.2 total yards and 21.5 points per game, marking their lowest averages in both categories since the 2009 season. Additionally, the defense conceded only 203.2 passing yards per game, the fewest since 2015. Jackson’s presence in the interior defensive line played a crucial role in these defensive achievements.

In recognition of his outstanding freshman season, Jackson received multiple accolades. In addition to the FWAA honor, he was named a Freshman All-American by ESPN and a True Freshman All-American by On3. Furthermore, he earned a spot on the Freshman All-SEC Team, underscoring his impact in the conference during Oklahoma’s inaugural SEC season.

Jackson’s success is a testament to his resilience and dedication. Overcoming personal challenges, including periods of homelessness, he credits his mother for his achievements, highlighting the importance of family support in his journey. His story serves as an inspiration, demonstrating that determination and hard work can lead to success, regardless of the obstacles faced.

Looking ahead, Jackson’s future with the Sooners appears promising. His freshman year has established a strong foundation, and with continued development, he is poised to become a cornerstone of Oklahoma’s defense in the coming seasons. His early accomplishments suggest a trajectory that could see him become one of the premier defensive linemen in college football.

Jackson’s recognition as a Freshman All-American not only highlights his individual talent but also reflects the strength of Oklahoma’s recruitment and development programs. The Sooners have a history of producing elite defensive talent, and Jackson’s emergence continues that tradition. As he progresses in his collegiate career, he will undoubtedly attract attention from national audiences and professional scouts alike.

In conclusion, Jayden Jackson’s freshman season has been marked by significant achievements and recognition. His contributions have been vital to Oklahoma’s defensive success, and his accolades are well-deserved. As he continues to develop and refine his skills, the future looks bright for this talented defensive tackle, and Sooners fans can look forward to his continued imp

    act on the field.
