Milwaukee Brewers re-sign Brandon Woodruff for 2 years

Woodruff, who underwent shoulder surgery in October, is expected to miss most or all of the 2024 season.

The Milwaukee Brewers announced they are bringing back All-Star pitcher Brandon Woodruff.

The team confirmed Wednesday they signed Woodruff to a two-year contract with a mutual option for 2026.

Woodruff, who underwent shoulder surgery in October, is expected to miss most or all of the 2024 season.

The two-time All-Star, non-tendered by the Brewers in November, became a free agent before re-signing with the team. His return to Milwaukee’s roster comes after a season cut short, where he pitched in just 11 games due to a right shoulder injury.

Woodruff spent the first seven seasons of his Major League career with the Brewers, over which he posted a 3.10 ERA in 130 appearances (115 starts), a franchise-best ERA for pitchers throwing at least 500 innings in a Milwaukee uniform.

Woodruff was selected by Milwaukee in the 11th round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Mississippi State University.
