So, I went to Tulsa this weekend to catch up with some recruits and watch 7-on-7 football for the first time. It was an event put on by DR7 Sports, and it featured a couple of Oklahoma teams, such as Sooner7 and C4Sports.
For the second straight week, one of Oklahoma’s best hitters is picking up some hardware.
On the heels of another big week at the dish in which he helped the Sooners win four of five games including a weekend sweep of No. 12 TCU, OU right fielder Bryce Madron was tabbed as the Big 12 Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Madron, who was the lone member of the team to receive a selection on the preseason all-conference team, hit .438 on the week with a home run and four RBI’s. The lefty also stole three bases, drew four walks and scored five runs.
On the year, Madron is now hitting at a .353 clip with a pair of home runs, eight extra-base hits and 15 RBI’s. His 26 runs scored, 17 walks and .483 on-base percentage are all good for the highest on the team.
In Big 12 play, the Oklahoma native ranks first in the league in runs scored (8), third in walks (7), stolen bases (3) and RBI’s (7) and ninth in batting average (.450). Madron’s bat has been a major reason why the Sooners have enjoyed back-to-back sweeps to open up conference play at 6-0.
