Collingwood’s Head of High-Performance Jarrod Wade Provides Injury and Health Update Ahead of Opening Round Clash Against GWS GIANTS

Collingwood’s Head of High-Performance, Jarrod Wade, has provided a crucial injury and health update as the Magpies prepare for their much-anticipated Opening Round clash against the GWS GIANTS at ENGIE Stadium this Sunday afternoon.

Wade addressed media at the club’s headquarters, offering insight into the team’s fitness and readiness for the season opener. The Magpies, coming off a strong preseason campaign, are eager to start the 2025 AFL season on a high note.

“We’re in a really positive spot health-wise,” Wade said. “The players have had a solid preseason, and we’ve made sure to be cautious with some of the niggles we’ve had along the way. As we head into Round 1, we’re confident in our group and their fitness levels.”

Wade confirmed that several key players have recovered well from minor injuries sustained during the preseason. Notably, star midfielder Jordan De Goey, who had been managing a slight hamstring strain, is now fully fit and expected to take the field on Sunday. “Jordan’s looked sharp in training and will be available for selection this weekend,” Wade stated.

However, there were a couple of concerns regarding injuries within the squad. Collingwood’s ruck duo, Brodie Grundy and Darcy Cameron, both experienced minor setbacks in the lead-up to the opener. Wade clarified that while they are not expected to miss the clash with the GIANTS, they are being monitored closely. “Both Brodie and Darcy are doing everything they can to get right, and we’ll continue to assess them throughout the week,” Wade explained.

Additionally, forward Jack Ginnivan, who had been managing an ankle issue, is expected to be available for selection after completing a rigorous rehabilitation program.

With the squad looking fit and ready, Collingwood will be looking to start their 2025 season with a dominant win over GWS at ENGIE Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
