Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb is doing the No. 88 jersey proud right now as he is in a vein of form that even Michael Irvin would be happy with.

Lamb is on a three-game run of 10+ receptions and over 150 receiving yards (NFL record), as his form isn’t just hot; it’s approaching supernova levels.

With Lamb looking like he could surpass his career-best totals from last season (107 rec, 1,359 yards, nine touchdowns, Irvin’s records of the 90s could be within striking distance.

But is that something Lamb thinks about? As it turns out, yes.

“A lot,” Lamb said. “That’s not necessarily my focus, but at the end of it all, that’s definitely something that I try to be on top of.”

Well, he is well on his way. … and we know “The Playmaker” is loving every minute of it, as he often jokingly refers to Lamb as “my son.”

Irvin holds the Cowboys season record for yards (1,603 in 1995) and receptions (111 in 1995), and if we take Lamb’s averages for catches and yards so far this season and spread it out over the remaining games, he’s looking at 124 receptions for 1,839 yards.

Now, that would be something, and while it might be unattainable, with his connection with Dak Prescott now hitting unprecedented levels, you never know.

As far as Lamb’s connection with Dak, after years of seeing each other’s best form in spots, they are now finally hitting their stride simultaneously.

“We’ve been together for four years now, and we’ve always got spurts of each other,” Lamb said. “But now, we’re kind of putting a season together, and we’re starting to get hot at the same time, both of us. It’s amazing for the offense and amazing for us. We just gotta keep it moving and keep adding in our pieces.”

There is a case to be made that Prescott and Lamb are, on current form, one of the best QB/WR duos in the NFL right now.

With the Carolina Panthers next on the schedule and with their defense giving up 26.9 points a game (ranks 30th), there is another great chance for Prescott and Lamb to continue their blistering pace.

As far as Irvin’s records, while Lamb still has a long way to go, based on what we have seen this season, this generation’s 88 has every chance of getting into the history books.
