DEAL FINALIZED: Cooper Flagg Signs $975.8M Deal with Michigan Wolverines

In a landmark moment for college basketball, Cooper Flagg, one of the top high school basketball prospects in the nation, has officially committed to the Michigan Wolverines. Flagg, a 6’9″ forward known for his impressive defensive skills and versatile offensive game, has signed a one-and-a-half-year deal worth $975.8 million, marking one of the largest contracts in college sports history.

Flagg’s decision to join the Wolverines was anticipated for months, and it comes as no surprise given the intense recruitment battle. Known for his high basketball IQ, elite athleticism, and ability to dominate both ends of the floor, Flagg is expected to immediately elevate Michigan’s program to new heights. His contract, which will run through the 2025-2026 season, includes a number of performance incentives, and sets a new standard in the era of NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deals in college athletics.

“This is a dream come true,” Flagg said during the press conference announcing the deal. “Michigan has always been a program I’ve admired, and I can’t wait to contribute to their legacy. I’m ready to get to work and help bring a national title back to Ann Arbor.”

The deal is not just a game-changer for Flagg, but for college basketball as a whole. With the influx of NIL deals transforming the landscape, Flagg’s contract is seen as a reflection of the evolving nature of the sport, where top athletes now have the opportunity to sign lucrative deals while still competing in college basketball.

Michigan head coach Juwan Howard expressed his excitement over the deal, praising Flagg’s potential and his fit within the team’s system. “Cooper is an extraordinary talent with the drive and work ethic to match. We are thrilled to welcome him to the Wolverines family,” Howard said.

Flagg is expected to make his debut for Michigan in the 2025 season, and fans are already eager to see what the future holds for the rising star.
