Detroit Tigers’ Infielder Details Health Problems is so bad today..
According to Detroit Tigers’ shortstop Javier Baez, he’s dealt with injury issues over the last two seasons, which could have contributed to his subpar performance.
Per Tigers’ reporter Chris McCosky:
Javy Baez said he’s battled through lower back and core issues the last two years. With new training routine, he said he feels strong and more like himself. He did not have any surgery, just strengthening those areas.
Tigers fans will certainly hope that this discomfort is the reason why he hasn’t been able to take off in the Motor City and that he’ll be better in 2024.
After signing a six-year, $140 million deal before the 2022 season, Baez has had a dreadful two years in Detroit. He’s hit just .230 with the Tigers, posting a meager .273 on-base percentage.
All in all, Baez is a 10-year veteran who has played for the Chicago Cubs, Tigers and New York Mets. He made his major league debut in 2014 and helped the Cubs win the World Series in 2016. Baez is a two-time All-Star, a Gold Glover and a former NLCS MVP. He’s also won a Silver Slugger Award.
