Georgia transfer EDGE Damon Wilson is set to visit Ohio State this weekend,
Before the semifinal round of the College Football Playoff begins, some news was reported on X concerning one of the teams.
On3’s Steve Wiltfong reported that former Georgia edge rusher Damon Wilson is visiting with the No. 8 seed Ohio State Buckeyes. Ohio State takes on No. 5 Texas in the Cotton Bowl on Friday.
Wilson joined former Bulldogs edge rusher Samuel M’Pemba in the portal. Wilson entered the portal on Tuesday after spending the last two seasons with Georgia.
Notre Dame ended Georgia’s season with a 23-10 loss in the Sugar Bowl. Other notable portal entries for Georgia include quarterback Carson Beck, cornerback Julian Humphrey and linebacker Troy Bowles.
Wilson was a former five-star prospect in the 2023 class. He is the top edge rusher in the On3 Transfer Portal Industry Rankings.
Wilson played in 12 games last season as a reserve outside linebacker. He had four tackles, one TFL and 0.5 sacks.
This season, he was more of a contributor and recorded 22 total tackles, six TFLs and three sacks.
Adding Wilson would be a massive addition to Ohio State’s transfer portal class. The Buckeyes already have transfer commits from former West Virginia running back CJ Donaldson, former Minnesota offensive tackle Phillip Daniels and former Purdue tight end Max Klare.
Ohio State has lost 11 players to the portal since it opened on Dec. 9. The Buckeyes’ biggest losses include quarterback Air Noland, quarterback Devin Brown, receiver Jayden Ballard and linebacker Gabe Powers.
The Buckeyes have produced edge rushers like Joey Bosa, Nick Bosa and Chase Young.
Ohio State and Texas have played each other three times in program history. The last meeting was in the 2008 Fiesta Bowl, with the Longhorns winning 24-21.
The Ohio State-Texas game kicks off Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
