Defensive back Brandon Cisse, a South Carolina native, has committed to the University of South Carolina after transferring from NC State. Initially a three-star recruit from Lakewood High School in Sumter, Cisse was ranked as a top-10 in-state prospect in the 2023 recruiting class.
During his high school career, Cisse showcased his defensive prowess by recording 37 tackles, one interception, 13 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries, one of which he returned for a touchdown.
After enrolling early at NC State in January 2023, Cisse saw limited playing time during his freshman year. Despite this, he was anticipated to take on a more significant role in the 2024 season, especially with the departure of key players in the Wolfpack’s secondary.
However, in January 2025, Cisse, along with two other NC State defensive backs, entered the transfer portal. This move was unexpected, as all three had previously indicated plans to return for the upcoming season. The reasons behind their decisions remain speculative, with potential factors including uncertainties regarding the defensive system or NIL-related issues.
Following his entry into the transfer portal, Cisse committed to South Carolina, bolstering the Gamecocks’ secondary with his talent and potential. His addition is expected to enhance the team’s defensive depth and performance in the upcoming season.
