Augustine Eguavoen, the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), is optimistic that the Super Eagles would emerge victorious from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is scheduled to take place in Cote d’Ivoire from January 13–February 11, 2024.
The 58-year-old former Super Eagles boss was certain that Nigeria’s national side had what it took to win the competition.
According to Naija News, the Super Eagles last had triumphed on the continent in South Africa in 2013. The three-time AFCON champion is focused on winning their fourth championship in Cote d’Ivoire the following year.
Along with Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau, the host nation, Jose Peseiro’s team is in Group A. According to Eguavoen, the Super Eagles can beat the other twenty-three teams and win the championship.
Eguavoen, though, is adamant that the Super Eagles can defeat the other 23 teams to win the championship.
Eguavoen said to Brila FM on Tuesday morning, “We know we have the capacity, we have the quality, and everything to be able to win it. We have been craving to try to get the Nations Cup back; since 2013, we’ve not been able to achieve that feat.”
The player must go out there and perform their job; everyone must work for the same goal and support the squad in whatever way they can. “But to say it is easy to achieve, is another thing,” he continued.
