Georgia’s Colbie Young Cleared to Return Following Suspension
University of Georgia wide receiver Colbie Young has been reinstated to the football team for the 2025 season. Head coach Kirby Smart confirmed Young’s return, stating, “Colbie is with us. He’s practicing with us, he’s cleared.”
Young’s suspension in October 2024 resulted from an arrest, during which he pleaded no contest to a disorderly conduct charge in January 2025; a more serious charge was dismissed. While he practiced with the team during the latter part of the 2024 season, he was unable to participate in games until his legal matters were resolved.
Before his suspension, Young played in five games, recording 11 receptions for 149 yards and two touchdowns. Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 210 pounds, he offers Georgia a significant presence in the receiving corps, complementing other key players like Noah Thomas, a 6-foot-5 transfer from Texas A&M, and Zachariah Branch from USC.
With spring practices underway, Young’s reinstatement bolsters Georgia’s offensive lineup, providing a proven playmaker capable of alleviating pressure on the quarterback and enhancing the overall offense.
