At the beginning of the season, Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro looked like he was the No. 1 scoring option.

After an early-season injury, that changed but at least one former NBA player still thinks Herro is their alpha player. Gilbert Arenas was speaking on his podcast about Washington Wizards guard Jordan Poole becoming their top option but shifted the conversation to Herro.

Arenas said Herro is the Heat’s best offensive threat ahead of Jimmy Butler, Terry Rozier and Bam Adebayo. Last year Herro was almost there before an injury ended his season in the first round of the NBA playoffs against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Herro is coming off a 23-point performance Wednesday against the Philadelphia 76ers.

“Tyler Herro is technically the No. 1 option,” Arenas said. “We didn’t look at it like that. We never looked at like Tyler Herro because Tyler Herro got hurt before the playoffs. But if you look, he was damn near leading the league in scoring. This year, he’s the No. 1 option.”
