<\/figure>\n\n\n\nStory of the Match<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Regis Le Bris made just one change to the Sunderland starting line-up against Liverpool last time out, Brian Brobbey replaced Wilson Isidor up front. The Dutch striker missed the Liverpool game due to featuring at the World Cup, scoring three goals for Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Daniel Farke made seven changes from the defeat to Wrexham, new signing Tarik Muharemovi\u0107 was handed his Leeds debut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Leeds took the lead after nine minutes through Nmecha who caught out goalkeeper Melker Ellborg. Enzo Le Fee was dispossessed by Ao Tanaka, the ball fell to Nmecha who saw Ellborg off his line from about 40-yards and rolled into the bottom right corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the 23rd minute Reinildo Mandava got in behind the Leeds defence and pulled it back to Brobbey who was unable to make contact from close range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Just a minute later Sunderland once again broke down the left, Chris Rigg laid the ball to Romaine Mundle, who fired wide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On the half-hour mark Jayden Bogle came inches away from extending the lead for Farke\u2019s men. The wing-back was left unmarked on the right wing and his low drive fired past Ellborg\u2019s left post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the 34th minute Trai Hume saw an effort blocked behind for a corner by Muharemovic. The Northern Ireland captain picked up possession after a battle between Brobbey and Leeds skipper Joe Rodon, but Muharemovic reacted quickly to block behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sunderland came close on 53 minutes Rigg\u2019s cross was headed marginally wide by youngster Timur Tutierov, who replaced Brobbey after 37 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Black Cats heavily rotated just after the hour mark with Diarra, Noah Sadiki and Simon Adingra all making their first appearances since joining the camp after the World Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ellborg made a fantastic save with his elbow to deny Daniel James in the 78th minute. The Swedish keeper was called into action once again just moments later getting down low to deny a flicked header from Alfie Cresswell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sunderland substitute Trey Ogunsuyi almost made an instant impact after being introduced in the closing stages. Adingra stood up a cross into the area, Ogunsuyi rose highest but his header rolled past the far post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Le Bris’ side came into life in the final moments. Tutierov played a give and go with Adingra but his effort was comfortable for Alex Cairns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sunderland are set to let Arthur Masuaku leave on a free after an agreement in principle was reached, while Regis Le Bris\u2019s side lost 1-0 to Leeds in New Jersey after Melker Ellborg\u2019s early error allowed Lukas Nmecha to score. Chris Rigg and Timur Tutierov caught the eye, and Adingra, Diarra and Sadiki returned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sunderland\u2019s record World Cup contingent enhanced the club\u2019s profile, with Xhaka, Talbi, Brobbey, Sadiki and Angulo among those whose displays boosted value and appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sunderland look set to start 2026-27 without a front-of-shirt sponsor after the Premier League gambling ban, with the club holding out rather than underselling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tutierov was rated Sunderland\u2019s best player after the 0-1 Leeds defeat, with Ellborg at fault for the goal. Adingra, Diarra and Sadiki made welcome returns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sunderland lost 1-0 to Leeds in New Jersey after Ellborg\u2019s early error allowed Nmecha to score. Rigg impressed, while Tutierov and Ogunsuyi went close late on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sunderland headed into the Leeds friendly after a 4-2 loss to Liverpool, with Brobbey, Adingra, Roefs, Diarra and Sadiki set to return, while Ta Bi missed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Arthur Masuaku is set to leave Sunderland on a free, with an agreement in principle reached after his spell failed to develop as hoped.open<\/p>\n\n\n\n Despite losing back-to-back games out in America there\u2019s absolutely nothing to worry about for Black Cats fans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Le Bris is mixing the squads and giving youngsters opportunities as he did last season. With Europa League football it is possible for the likes of Tutierov or Ogunsuyi to potentially be in the mix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sunderland matched Leeds for the majority of the game, and looked lively going forward but just didn’t have that killer instinct.
