Judah Mintz declares his intention to leave Syracuse

A social media announcement states that Judah Mintz will not be playing for Syracuse again in the upcoming season. The men’s basketball team at Syracuse declared that Mintz would be declaring his name for the 2024 NBA Draft.
After a stellar rookie campaign, Mintz took a stab at the professional game by competing in the 2023 NBA Combine. Mintz scored a total of 22 points in two scrimmages. In the end, he made the decision to play his sophomore season at SU on May 31, 2023.
When the Orange hosted Virginia Tech on February 27, which would be his last home game, Mintz gave an explanation for why he decided to give collegiate basketball another shot:
“I wanted to prove that I’m among the top point guards in the nation,” “My goal was to rank among the top players,” stated Mintz. “Every time I step on the court, I try to prove that to everyone, whether they see me that way or not.”
Mintz averaged 17.5 points and 4.5 assists per game during his two years at Syracuse. The 6-foot-4 point guard reached 1,000 career points during his sophomore season. In just 59 games, he tied for the seventh-fastest pace in program history.
Mintz was named to the Second Team All-ACC this past season. In addition, he ranked third in the Atlantic Coast Conference in assists (4.5 per game) and third in scoring (behind RJ Davis of North Carolina and PJ Hall of Clemson). Mintz was not named a finalist for the Cousy Award, Naismith Trophy, or Wooden Award, despite being on preseason watchlists for all three going into the 2023–24 season.
Mintz is now Syracuse’s seventh player to depart during the off-season. He reunites with Benny Williams, who was kicked off the show earlier in the season, as well as Justin Taylor, Quadir Copeland, Peter Carey, Maliq Brown, and Mounir Hima.
Mintz is currently expected to go undrafted according to the most recent ESPN mock draft.
