KING DONNY XL: Donny Schatz Dominates at Eldora for Sixth Crown
ROSSBURG, OH – Donny Schatz proved once again why he is a legend in sprint car racing, capturing his sixth King’s Royal crown at Eldora Speedway in a commanding performance on Saturday night. The 10-time World of Outlaws champion delivered a masterclass in precision and patience, leading the field to victory in the 2025 edition of the prestigious event.
Schatz, driving the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing No. 15 car, surged to the front after a hard-fought battle in the early laps. Facing stiff competition from the sport’s elite, he methodically worked his way to the lead, using Eldora’s high banks to his advantage. Once out front, he never looked back, crossing the finish line first and adding yet another jewel to his storied career.
“This never gets old,” said an elated Schatz in Victory Lane. “Eldora is one of the toughest tracks in the world, and to win here, especially against this competition, is something special. My crew gave me an amazing car, and I just had to do my job.”
Defending King’s Royal winner Brad Sweet and rising star Giovanni Scelzi made valiant attempts to challenge Schatz in the closing laps, but neither could find the speed to match the veteran driver. Sweet, who finished second, acknowledged the challenge, saying, “Donny was perfect tonight. He didn’t make a mistake, and that’s why he’s one of the best to ever do it.”
The victory makes Schatz only the third driver in history to win six King’s Royal titles, further cementing his place among the sport’s greats. The massive crowd at Eldora Speedway roared in approval as Schatz was crowned King Donny XL, celebrating a night of thrilling racing and another milestone in his illustrious career.
As confetti fell and the champagne flowed, Schatz once again proved that at Eldora’s grandest event, he remains a force to be reckoned with.
