Unfortunately for Duke basketball forward Kyle Filipowski, Saturday’s 83-79 loss at unranked Wake Forest and his ensuing stormed-court injury prevented proper recognition of the feat he achieved during the game: joining the Blue Devils’ 1,000-point club as a mere sophomore.
Filipowski finished the battle with a team-high 17 points, bumping the 20-year-old’s career total to 1,000 on the dot.
As the Duke basketball program’s social media team pointed out, the former five-star prep from New York is now “in good company” as one of only five Blue Devils since 2000 to reach that milestone before their second season in Durham concluded:
