Russell had agreed to the deal last week, but the franchise announced it Friday

The Los Angeles Lakers have officially signed free agent D’Angelo Russell to a reported two-year, $37 million contract and will continue to be the team’s starting point guard moving forward. He received the news while spending quality time with his family.

Russell, 27, had already agreed to the deal last week, but the franchise announced the news on Friday. He was drafted by the Lakers in 2015 and will now carry on with his second stint in Los Angeles.

The veteran guard reportedly has a player option for the second year of the deal. Russell has yet to react to the news, but he’s a bit busy, so it’s understandable.

He shared a clip of his baby boy to Instagram Stories as the announcement was made. His son, Riley Jonas, was born in September 2022 and Russell posted him enjoying the breeze right on the side of the ocean.

The baby was in his stroller and looked to be sleeping comfortable. Russell is not married, but has been with his child’s mother, Laura Ivaniukas, since 2020.
