Outside linebacker James Houston, a crucial member of the Detroit Lions’ pass rush, could return.
The second-year rusher has been sidelined since Week 2 with an ankle ailment. He rejoined the active roster last week, but was inactive in the Lions’ divisional playoff victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Houston made a big impression in the final seven games of the 2022 season, totaling eight sacks. However, this year’s ankle injury forced him to spend the most of the regular season on injured reserve.
“Well, here’s the good thing about Houston,” defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn said. “Throughout the offseason, he’s learned more than simply how to bend around corners. I believe we’re all looking forward to witnessing his diverse pass-rush techniques.”
Tight end Sam LaPorta returned to practice Thursday after being labeled as a non-participant on Wednesday’s projected practice report. He has participated in the last two games after sustaining a hyperextended knee against Minnesota in the regular season finale.
