Matt Rhule send a clear message about a potential trade

Trev Alberts, the athletic director at Nebraska, left his alma institution to take over for interim Aggie AD R.C. Slocum at Texas A&M, accepting the same role.

ESPN reports that Alberts will rank among the highest-paid college athletics administrators.

In a statement released by Texas A&M on Wednesday, Alberts stated, “In my opinion, there has never been a more consequential time in history for higher education and the evolving landscape of intercollegiate athletics.” “Now more than ever, leadership is important. In addition to its esteemed reputation, President Welsh’s inspiring vision for Texas A&M piques my curiosity. In this vision, athletics can, in my opinion, make a modest but significant contribution to the university’s potential for historically great achievement.”

“I truly want to express my gratitude to the University of Nebraska – the school and its fans have been and always will be immensely important to me,” he stated. “Nebraska changed my life, and I’m thankful for the incredible 15 years I spent here.”

After installing Slocum as interim athletic director, the Aggies began a hunt to replace Ross Bjork, who was hired by Ohio State in January.

Mark A. Welsh III, president of A&M, stated that Alberts stood out for his great business sense and leadership.

“I can’t imagine a better individual to lead the Aggie Athletics program into the future,” he stated.

This time, Alberts won’t need to take any similar action. After Jimbo Fisher was fired as the football coach in November, Alberts took over as the Aggies’ new coach, Mike Elko, was hired in December.

The 53-year-old linebacker at Nebraska was an All-American in 1993 and the first recipient of the Butkus Award for the program. He was the fifth overall pick by the Colts in the 1994 NFL Draft, and he spent three seasons as an Indianapolis player before he retired.

Alberts worked as Nebraska-Omaha’s athletic director before to joining the Cornhuskers as AD.
