Report: Vitor Pereira keen to make £20.7m-rated centre-back his first signing as Wolves manager…

    adminBy adminDecember 31, 2024No Comments2 Mins Read

Wolves plot January move for RC Lens centre-back Kevin Danso.

The Englishman was sacked after a dismal run of form that culminated in a 2-1 defeat against fellow relegation battlers Ipswich Town at Molineux Stadium.

The dramatic defeat on home turf left Wolves precariously placed in 19th position in the Premier League table after picking up a meagre nine points from 16 games.

To salvage what remains of a massively disappointing campaign, Wolves’ leadership made an executive decision to switch things up in the dugout, and it has paid off massively.

Pereira has kicked off his Wolves career with a bang, with their most recent 2-2 draw away to Tottenham Hotspur maintaining their unbeaten start under the Portuguese manager (W2).

Wolves are out of the drop zone, but they’re not out of the woods yet.

The club is now keen to back their new gaffer in January. Sky Sports claim he has made signing a new centre-back a priority and already has a primary target in mind.

Pereira has set his sights on highly rated RC Lens centre-back

Danso has also helped Lens to keep five clean sheets, recording an average of five ball recoveries, 5.4 clearances, 1.6 tackles, and 1.8 interceptions per match.

Danso is valued at £20.7 million (€25m) on Transfermarkt, but it remains to be seen whether a bid around that region will be enough to strike a deal with Lens.

Danso. After the Tottenham game, he admitted that he needed an experienced centre-half, and Danso has emerged as a primary target.

The 26-year-old is one of the most highly rated defenders in the French top flight and could be a massive coup for Wolves if they act on their interest.

The Austrian defender has made ten appearances in Ligue 1 this season.

He is imperious in ground battles, boasting a 52% success rate, but it pales in comparison to his dominance in the air, recording a hugely impressive 62% aerial duels won.
