sad news :just now, abrilliant man has been suspended becouse of….

Former Cleveland pitcher and current Milwaukee Brewer J.C. Mejia was suspended for performance-enhancing drugs.
MILWAUKEE BREWERS
2021 was a difficult season for the then-Cleveland Indians. The team suffered a number of injuries to their starting rotation and the offense couldn’t score enough runs to help them win games. In fact, it was very similar to how this current season has gone for the Guardians.
A silver lining in all of this is that Cleveland got a nice look at some of their young pitcher such as Sam Hentges, Eli Morgan, and Trevor Stephan who are all still pitching for the club. One player who also got an opportunity to prove their MLB worthy was right-handed pitcher J.C. Mejia.
Mejia appeared in 17 games with Cleveland and ended up with an 8.25 ERA 1.606 WHIP, and 8.1 SO9.
Cleveland didn’t quite see a future with Mejia on their roster and opted to trade him to the Milwaukee Brewers in the offseason for infielder David Fry. Fry has been a solid return for Mejia as he made his Big League debut in 2023 providing the Guardians with plenty of utility and flexibility on the bench.
This was a good trade for Cleveland in retrospect because Now, it’ll be a long time before Mejia is pitching in a Big League game.
MLB put a news release late on Wednesday afternoon that the 27-year-old received a 162-game suspension starting immediately after testing positive for Stanozolol which is a performance-enhancing drug.
Mejia only appeared for nine games for the Brewers in 2023 and held a 5.56 ERA in those starts. He hasn’t been great and now he’ll have to work extra hard to prove he still belongs in the Majors
