Nadroga rugby mourns loss
The Nadroga Rugby Union says their success on the field in 2013 has been overshadowed by the death of its former president Ratu Isikeli Tasere and also patron Ratu Sakuisa Makutu.
Tasere, who was the president of the Fiji Rugby Union, died on Thursday, while Makutu passed away at the end of last month.
Nadroga Rugby Union president Tiko Matawalu says they are at a loss of having lost someone like Tasere, who had contributed a lot to the sport in the country.

“It’s so sad you know for Nadroga rugby to end our 2013 in this manner. We lost our patron and Turaga ni Ka Levu earlier and now we have lost our former president. After all the success in the year 2013 for us to end our season with the sudden loss of our two very prominent figures in the vanua and the rugby administration that is something we are mourning for and it is definitely a big loss to Nadroga rugby.”
Tasere’s funeral will be held on January 9.
