While the current members of the Ohio State football team can spend the next nine months celebrating a national title at the collegiate level a former player can join them in their championship status.
Thanks to the Eagles’ 40-22 win over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, a Buckeye is once again part of the championship celebrations. Parris Campbell joined the Eagles this season alternating between the active squad and practice squad, catching six passes for 30 yards. Despite the small role, he helped OSU end a drought as part of the Super Bowl-winning team.
He’s the first Buckeye to do so since Darron Lee, who helped the Chiefs win Super Bowl LIV during the 2020 season. Overall, Campbell is the 33rd Buckeye to win a Super Bowl.
Campbell caught 143 passes for 1,768 yards and 15 touchdowns during his Ohio State career from 2014-18. His most productive season was in 2018 when he caught what was then a school-record 90 catches for 1,063 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Former Ohio State basketball player Jamison Battle has signed a three-year deal with the Toronto Raptors and earned a full-time roster spot in the NBA.
Battle originally joined the team during Summer League averaging 7.4 points in 14 minutes per game over the summer. After two games, Toronto signed him to an Exhibit 10 deal, which was converted to a two-way contract between the Raptors and their G League affiliate, Raptors 905.
He’s already spent a decent amount of time with the team even before the full-time deal averaging 5.4 points while shooting 41.7% from three-point range in 35 games.
