On July 20, 2024, a tragic plane crash claimed the lives of three members of Jamey Johnson’s crew. The accident involved a Cessna 182A Skylane, which crashed in the mountainous terrain near Dysartsville, North Carolina. The plane was en route from Mountain City-Johnson County Airport in Tennessee to Rutherford County Marchman Field in North Carolina. Unfortunately, all three occupants aboard perished, and the aircraft was destroyed.
The crash occurred around 9:00 PM local time, and the wreckage was found near the Rutherford-McDowell County line. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the incident to determine the cause of the crash.
